BEST FUNK CD of 2005: NADIR- Distorted Soul 2.0
- SoulPatrol.com

"This isn't a CD in search of a market, it's a CD that demands the marketplace find it. We need this album, we need it REAL bad.."

Bob Davis, Mount Holly, New Jersey
www.soul-patrol.com

"Funky and endlessly soulful, NADIR's recorded output is instantly ear-grabbing in its relentlessly powerful attack."
Midpoint Music Festival Guide, City Beat, Cincinnati, Ohio

"Praised by everyone from Detroit's Metro Times to Billy Bob Thorton, the Hendrix-meets-Marley-in-a-soul-kitchen sextet has forged a new niche in the funk and soul revival community."
Toledo City Paper, Toledo, Ohio

"The music... is stunning – there are at least a half dozen potential hits. The major labels should be all over this album, as should fans of gutsy R&B and rock. Recommended."
Chris Rizik, Ann Arbor, Michigan
www.soultracks.com

"...He has really developed a sound and style of his own and Distorted Soul 2.0 is very different from what I’ve heard in a long time and that’s what makes this album special."
Dirk Binsau, Hamburg, Germany
www.jazz-not-jazz.com

"This is some great music that works in multiple contexts: the nightclub, the car, and the bedroom. How many current CD's can you say that about?" - Keith Chandler, Brothers United Nashville Newsletter, Nashville, Tennessee

“When I heard the new recording by Nadir, I was impressed with the poetry, spirituality and focus in his message, but just as much, the quality and power of the performances captured on the disc."
Michael Solaka, New Center Inc., Detroit, Michigan

"NADIR effortlessly blends hip-hop, jazz, and R&B in such a delectable manner that his musical renditions are certain to satisfy any musical palate."
Omowale Akintunde, writer and educator, Evansville, Indiana

"Ok. So it seems that I have found my new favorite disc."
Terry Thornhill, Big Dot Design, Franklin, Tennessee

"THE SOUND IS COMPLETE, THE SONGS ARE LOVELY, YOUR VOICE IS TRUE..."
Monika Henter, vocalist and musician, Budapest, Hungary

"This baby was a hell of a long time gestating, but well worth the wait."
Bill Steber, photographer, musician and writer, Murfreesboro, Tennessee

"A very strong record - every song is a single.....seriously."
Eric Willison, EDT Media, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

"They're a first class act that could hold their own on any stage in any city."

"Daddy's Cane" Nominated for Best Original Song at Anti-Industry.com
NADIR's song "Daddy's Cane" was nominated for Best Original Song at www.anti-industry.com, a site dedicated to empowering independent musicians. Fourteen finalists were selected from entries at SonicBids.com. Finalists will be included on a compilation cd to be released in the Fall of 2004.

NADIR has become a favorite of the staff at Anti-Industry. Site administrator Kate Campbell posted the following to annouce her personal favorites for Best Original Song: "I absolutely positively loved NADIR's 'Slave' as top dog. It's the most original thing I've heard - a blend of genres with a killer power to the lyrics. I can't help but groove and dance when I hear it. Which is often. Unfortunately, I was outnumbered by judges who loved his other song 'Daddy's Cane' more."

The Talking Drum
is the vanguard website of the global Pan-Afrikan community. Featuring links to web pages that won't be found on most search engines, Brother Jacuma Kambui's site is a wonderful source of information about the Afrikan liberation movement. "Daddy's Cane" in September 2003 issue of
Mac Addict Magazine
The latest version of an old favorite got some play with Macintosh users. "Daddy's Cane" (Track 6), is featured on The Disc, a CD-ROM companion to the September issue of Mac Addict magazine.

Described by Nadir as "the prototypical Distorted Soul song", "Daddy's Cane" was originally recorded by Nadir's band, Jack Johnson, for their album, Round One. The latest incarnation of this Papa Jack classic was recorded, produced and performed by Neal Cappellino, Reavis Mitchell, Jack Johnson co-founder, Paul Cochrane and Nadir.
