Distorted Soul Reviews

Nadir:

I got to hand it to you bro. I'm impressed. This baby was a hell of a long time gestating, but well worth the wait. I played it at a party the other night and people were asking who it was. It was a hit.

When I first popped it in I'm getting into to it and I started thinking, "Is that Fannie Lou Hamer?" Funny thing is that I've never heard a recording of her, but from what she was saying, it's the only person it could be.

Then "Slave" starts up, only funkier than I remember. And I've got this little interior dialogue going in my head about the influences that shape people's musical sensibilities and I'm listening to everything you're putting into it and I'm thinking, "You know, I'm really digging this, but it's so different from where my head is right now, I can't think of a way into the music from a player's point of view. I could never add anything to this on guitar or..." and then I heard the harp solo and had totally forgotten I played on it way back when. I busted out laughing.

So anyway, the whole thing is great and your website is awesome. Looks like things are happening for you in Motor City. You're looking good, you're sounding good. I'm proud of you.

Stay in touch. I'd love to see you when you're back down this way.

Peace,
